Solomon has natural conditions suitable for solar power, and they are promoting renewable energy, but the grid-connected photovoltaic power generation system (hereinafter referred to as “grid-connected PV system”) has not been introduced.

Solomon Power provides personnel for the PMU. The PMU is responsible for the procurement of all civil works and goods, which will be undertaken in accordance with ADB's Procurement Guidelines. Solomon Islands had requested that ADB select the design and supervision consultants on its behalf.
Solomon (Honiara) has about 1.3 times the amount of solar radiation (horizontal plane) than Japan, so the environment is optimal for PV installation. Using the following calculation method, the amount of power generated annually was calculated based on this solar radiation data.
This is the first time in 31 years that Solomon Power is constructing a new outstation the last one being in Malu'u. The scope includes solar panels, battery storage system, back up diesel generator and 415 V distribution network to connect about 200 customers at each of these sites in Western Province and Choiseul Province.
