4.1.1. Solar/battery powered ships Solar/battery power system is the typical power system configuration for medium and small-scale solar-powered ships. The “Sun 21” (Fig. 9 a) was the world's first solar-powered ship to cross the Atlantic in 2006, with 65 m 2 PV panels between the hull to supply the ship power system .

According to the above analyses, the development trends of ship power system types can be forecasted as follows [ 18, 19 ]: [ 1] Decarbonisation: low-carbon energy such as lithium batteries, fuel cells, solar and wind energy, and shore-side power will be widely applied to ships, as well as LNG, which is a promising ship energy.
A hybrid solar/wind energy/fuel cell ship power system model is constructed for ships, and a hybrid solar/wind energy power supply and hydrogen production model is proposed for port shore power.
