When defect solder joints are detected by the machine, they are sent to specialists for a second round of inspection. However, sometimes the machine inspection is not accurate, which sends a large number of normal solder joints to the specialists that increases the manual workload.
Besides, a unique solder joint dataset based on point clouds is created from real industry to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. The validity of the attended region is demonstrated by the manual feature FPFH. In the future, we plan to detect the position of solder joints on PCBs by deep neural networks.
Therefore, the quality of solder joints plays a vital role in PCBs. In earlier methods, the solder joints defect inspection process mainly relies on human visual inspections with low efficiency and consistency. In addition, manual inspection is high labor-intensive, high-cost, and often involves subjective judgment.
The detection was based on visualizing the deviation of the defect joint features from the normal joint . The X-ray images can also be used in 3D space to form a spatial model. By comparing spatial characteristics such as volume and propagation direction, defect solder joints can be filtered out .
