Solar panels are an increasingly popular form of renewable energy. They are devices that convert sunlight into electricity. Solar panels can be used for residential, commercial, or industrial purposes. To understand the importance of excluding wildlife from around solar panels, it is important to first define what a solar panel is and how it works.

One other thing I''d consider is giving the panels some support between the roof and the centre of the actual glass panel to stop it flexing/ocillating like Rolf Harris''s wobble board, being shook and vibrated isn''t something they''d be subject to on a house and constantly bouncing and flexing probably would do them a lot of good.

Interesting set up. Personally I would have connected the solar panels to the leisure batteries using the split charge relay to top up the engine battery as and when it needed a charge. In particular, the Universities of York and Lancaster have done work which identifies ways that solar farms could be even more effective - such as planting hedges around the outside and creating wetland areas.
W hen we applied for permission to build a solar farm in West Sussex the planners initially worried about the impact on wildlife and insisted that we do surveys of the bats and newts, but in practice the solar panels, now installed there, have created a haven for wildlife. Several surprising facts struck me as I walked amongst the PV panels:
The report, from Solar Trade Association, underpinned by research from the Universities of York and Lancaster, sets out a growing body of evidence that well-designed and managed solar farms could provide a haven for British wildlife, including declining species such as foraging bats, yellowhammers and grey-legged partridges.
As the number of solar farms in the UK increases, there is growing interest in the interactions of wildlife with ground-mounted solar photovoltaic panels. Evidence of whether operational solar farms impact on biodiversity remains limited, however, particularly in a UK context.
A new report suggests that in addition to producing clean energy, solar farms could offer a vital boost to Britain's rare species. Wildflower meadows at solar farms offer a boost to British wildlife.
Sheep are the usual choice for solar farms, being generally small enough to pass beneath the rows of panels. They are usually available and also easy to handle. Hardy breeds are usually best suited to autumn and winter grazing where the grazing is less nutritious.
